Targeted repairs that fix the problem without a full re-roof

Most roofs don't fail all at once — a repair addresses one specific point of failure, such as a run of slipped tiles or a cracked section of flashing, without the cost and disruption of stripping the whole roof. It's the right first call whenever the roof covering as a whole is still sound.

Most roof problems don't start as a full roof problem — they start as one slipped tile after a windy night, a cracked piece of lead flashing around a chimney stack, or a valley gutter that has begun to hold water instead of shedding it. Roof repairs are about finding that specific point of failure and fixing it properly, rather than defaulting to a full re-roof the property doesn't need. We start by getting up onto the roof, or using a pole camera where access is difficult, to trace the damage back to its actual source — a stain on a bedroom ceiling doesn't always sit directly under the leak, because water tracks along battens and rafters before it shows itself indoors. Once the fault is found, repairs are carried out using materials that match the existing roof covering as closely as possible: reclaimed or colour-matched tiles and slates, lead or GRP flashing detail to match what's there, and a breathable underlay patch where the old felt has perished. A repair is only worth doing if it holds — so we always check the tiles either side of the damaged area, the batten condition underneath, and the state of the felt, rather than just patching the one visible symptom and leaving a second failure to appear a few months later.
