London Borough of Enfield

Property Improvements in Enfield

The London Borough of Enfield covers eight towns for us, from Hadley Wood, which straddles the Enfield/Barnet border, through to Enfield Town itself, the historic centre of the borough on the A10, taking in the string of Piccadilly line suburbs in between.

The London Borough of Enfield stretches from the Piccadilly line terminus at Cockfosters through to Enfield Town, its historic centre on the A10, and we cover eight towns across it: Hadley Wood, Cockfosters, Oakwood, Southgate, Winchmore Hill, Palmers Green, Edmonton and Enfield itself. Hadley Wood, the leafy suburb straddling the Enfield/Barnet border close to Cockfosters and the Hertfordshire boundary, sits at the borough's northernmost edge, while Edmonton, on the A1010 south-east of Enfield Town, marks a more built-up, southerly part of the borough. Between them, Cockfosters, Oakwood, Southgate and Winchmore Hill run along or near the Piccadilly line, with Palmers Green on the Green Lanes corridor further east. Housing across the borough includes significant numbers of 1930s semi-detached houses built during the Piccadilly line's suburban expansion, alongside Edwardian terraces closer to Palmers Green and Winchmore Hill, and more built-up housing around Edmonton and Enfield Town itself. Extensions, loft conversions, roofing and driveway work are all regularly requested across the borough's varied housing stock. Oakwood, sitting between Cockfosters and Southgate, and Winchmore Hill, between Southgate and Palmers Green, both fall firmly within the string of Piccadilly line suburbs that shaped much of Enfield's inter-war housing boom, giving this stretch of the borough a strong concentration of 1930s semis well suited to hip-to-gable loft conversions and rear extensions. Enfield Town itself, the historic centre on the A10, anchors the borough's southern end with an older, more established town centre than the newer suburban streets further north toward Cockfosters and Hadley Wood.

About Enfield

The London Borough of Enfield is the planning authority across all eight towns listed here, and Cockfosters, at the borough's northern edge, sits at the terminus of the Piccadilly line, with Enfield Town itself, the borough's historic centre, on the A10 further south. Palmers Green, further east along the Green Lanes corridor, and Hadley Wood, straddling the Enfield/Barnet border in the borough's north-western corner, mark two very different edges of the same local authority, which is a useful reminder of how varied Enfield's housing stock and street character are even within one borough.
