The London Borough of Barnet is the largest single district we cover, spanning ten towns from historic High Barnet at the top of Barnet Hill through to Edgware at the northern end of the Northern line.

The London Borough of Barnet covers a substantial stretch of North London, and it's home to the widest single cluster of towns in our coverage — Barnet (High Barnet), New Barnet, East Barnet, Monken Hadley, Arkley, Whetstone, Totteridge, Mill Hill, Finchley and Edgware. This is a borough with real variety within it: Barnet itself is the historic market town at the top of Barnet Hill, Monken Hadley is a genuinely old hamlet and common adjoining it, while Edgware, at the northern terminus of the Northern line, and Finchley, covering North Finchley, East Finchley and Church End, are more built-up London suburbs with a different character again to the leafy conservation area of Totteridge or the Green Belt-edge setting of Mill Hill near the M1. Housing spans Victorian terraces close to the borough's older centres, through to 1930s suburban semis built during the Northern line's expansion, and larger detached properties in areas like Totteridge and Arkley. Loft conversions, extensions, roofing and renovation work are all common across the borough, reflecting the genuine mix of period and inter-war housing stock found across these ten towns. New Barnet and East Barnet, both close to High Barnet town centre, add further Victorian and Edwardian terraced streets into the mix, while Whetstone, on the old Great North Road between North Finchley and Totteridge, sits at something of a crossing point between the borough's more built-up southern suburbs and its leafier northern edge near Arkley and Monken Hadley on the Hertfordshire border.
